Safe neighborhoods are the foundation of everything — strong schools, thriving businesses, and families who choose to stay. Alva brings nearly forty years of service in Alabama law, healthcare, and state government, now focused on fighting for Montgomery families in Dalraida, Eastmont, Hillwood, Carol Villa, Vaughn Park, Lagoon Park, Woodley Road, Chisholm, Trenholm, and other neighborhoods across District 74.
Alva Lambert grew up in Dothan with the belief that public service is a calling, not a career. After earning degrees from The University of Alabama, Auburn University at Montgomery, and a Juris Doctor from The Jones School of Law at Faulkner University, he went to work on behalf of Alabama families in the State House, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, and the Office of the Governor.
In 1997, Alva was appointed to lead the State Health Planning and Development Agency (SHPDA), where he served for 21 years overseeing major decisions impacting hospitals, community clinics, and patient care across our state. After retiring from state government, he continued his work in healthcare and infrastructure as Director of Business Development for Bernhard Energy.
Today, Alva is an attorney in private practice, with the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) as a major client. He is also a charter board member of the Alabama Military Support Foundation, working to ensure Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base and its service members remain a cornerstone of Montgomery's economy and identity. Beyond his professional roles, Alva volunteers with the Alabama State Games and the Lions Club, supporting youth athletics, community service, and families in need. He is also a Past President of the Montgomery Quarterback Club, which provides scholarship opportunities to deserving high school athletes.
He is running for the Alabama House because he believes it all begins with public safety — and that steady, conservative leadership is what District 74 needs.
Conservative, practical solutions rooted in experience and accountability.
It all begins with people feeling safe. As a former Deputy District Attorney and current PBA counsel, Alva has stood with law enforcement his entire career. In the Legislature, he will fight for the resources, training, and support our officers need to keep Montgomery's neighborhoods safe.
With more than two decades leading Alabama's State Health Planning and Development Agency, Alva understands how policy decisions affect patients and providers. He will fight for transparent, accountable healthcare policy that improves access while protecting taxpayers.
From his work in business development at Bernhard Energy, Alva knows how to cut through red tape and encourage investment. He will support policies that help small businesses, attract good-paying jobs, and keep Montgomery competitive for the next generation.
Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base is the heartbeat of Montgomery's economy. As a charter board member of the Alabama Military Support Foundation, Alva will fight to protect the base, support our military families, and ensure Montgomery remains a premier military community.
